On August 6, 1945 the world changed. That was the day that the aircraft above dropped the first atomic bomb in wartime. On that day almost 80,000 people were instantaneously killed. Two days later a second bomb killed thousands more.

I am not here to argue whether those bombs were necessary, But, I do thank God that was the first and only time it has been used in wartime.

Being a Quaker in spirit, I also view weapons of mass destruction to be immoral and illegal and support organizations, policy-makers and civil society to rid the world of nuclear weapons.
